Straight Answers for Boise Events

I live in Nampa and Boise is 25 minutes up the freeway, so there is no travel fee on a Boise date. I am Mark, I run SwissMixx Audio myself, and every rate I charge is published on this site. What follows is not a list of places I claim to serve. It is what I actually know about running sound in these rooms.

What I Know About Boise Venues

Curfews, power and what each room does to sound. Confirm any policy with the venue before you build a timeline on it, because venues change their rules and a wrong curfew costs you the last dance.

Boise Depot

Music stops at 10:00 PM. Not 10:15. Build the timeline backward from that and you get a great last dance instead of a cut-off one. There is a house system in the building. Ask exactly what it covers before you count on it, because in rooms like this it is usually built for announcements and a ceremony mic, not for a dance floor.

Idaho Botanical Garden

Music ends at 9:00 PM, the earliest hard stop anywhere in the valley. If you want dancing at the Botanical Garden you are dancing at 7:30. That is fine, it just has to be the plan from the start, and there is no kitchen on site so the catering timeline pushes everything too.

TRICA Castle-Cathedral

Forty-five foot ceilings, exposed rafters, hardwood floor. It is a beautiful room and it is a long reverb tail. Point a pair of speakers into that space wrong and every toast turns to mush. This is a room where the aiming matters more than the wattage.

Barber Park Event Center

House PA with wireless mics and projection, dimmable lighting, and six ceiling wires with outlets. Better equipped than most rooms in the valley. I still bring my own system for a reception, because a rig that handles a presentation rarely handles a dance floor, and I am not going to stake your night on somebody else's speakers. If you want the low-cost path, rent a DIY kit from me instead and run it yourself.

Capital City Event Center

Music until 4:00 AM, the latest cutoff I have found in the region. Indoors only.

The Penthouse at C.W. Moore Plaza

Music to 2:00 AM, and your six hours of event time does not include setup or cleanup, so load-in is outside the clock.

The Grove Hotel

Midnight cutoff, and food and beverage is theirs.

The Adelmann

Exposed brick, wood floors, second floor of a downtown building. Every case goes up. Worth knowing when you are comparing quotes, because the guy who has never loaded in there has not priced it.

Boise Centre

They have an in-house AV department. For a corporate general session I will quote against them and show you plainly where the difference sits, in gear and in who is actually at the console.

DIY sound kits for Boise venues, from $249 a weekend

A lot of couples in this valley run their own sound, and that is a completely reasonable choice for a ceremony and a modest reception. I rent the kit, size it to the room, and tell you where to put it. Speaker and wireless mic from $249 Friday to Monday, free pickup in Nampa, delivery across the Treasure Valley.

The Honest Version

If your Boise reception is a hundred people in a room with a house system, you may not need a DJ package at all. I rent a proper speaker and a wireless mic for the weekend starting at $249 and you set it up yourself. That is the lowest-cost path and I will point you at it before I try to sell you anything else.

Boise FAQ

No. Boise is inside my standard Treasure Valley service area, about 20 minutes from my shop in Nampa. Travel is included in every wedding and corporate package. Rental delivery to Boise is the standard $250 each way, or pick up free in Nampa.

Downtown hotel ballrooms, event centers, river and park venues, corporate offices, and plenty of backyards. If your venue is new to me, I walk it before the event or model it in software, so the sound plan is dialed before load-in day.

My published packages: Reception Only $2,500, Ceremony and Reception $3,400, Full Day $5,750. DIY sound kits for self-run weddings start at $249 for a Friday to Monday weekend. Those are the real numbers, not a starting price that grows after you call.
