For peak wedding season dates (June through September), 8 to 12 weeks in advance is ideal to ensure equipment availability. Last-minute rentals may be possible depending on inventory, so always ask.

For a backyard of 20 to 30 people, often yes. Past that, no, and it's not really about volume. A consumer Bluetooth speaker throws sound in one direction and gets muddy at distance, so guests in the back rows lose the words even if it's technically loud enough up front. Outdoors, wind and traffic noise make it worse. Rented PA speakers are built to project clearly across a wider area, which is the difference between guests hearing "I do" and guests just hearing a speaker.
