SwissMixx in Star
Star has grown from a small town into one of the valley's favorite wedding spots, and the barn and riverside venues out here are some of my favorite rooms to run. I'm Mark, based in Nampa, about 25 minutes away. Barns are honest venues: big open volume, hard surfaces, and zero acoustic treatment. That is an engineering problem, and it is the part I am best at. Every price is published, travel to Star included.

Room by room
Curfews, power and what each room does to sound. Confirm any policy with the venue before you build a timeline on it, because venues change their rules and a wrong curfew costs you the last dance.
A 15,000 square foot heated and air conditioned event center that seats up to 900, on 45 acres with four outdoor arenas and a 150x300 arena, plus a covered equestrian center. These are metal buildings. A metal arena building is a completely different sound problem than a ballroom, and it is the kind of room where cheap gear falls apart. There are also 16 RV spots with water and power on site, which is genuinely useful for a production crew. One thing to confirm before you book any outdoor show there: the venue prints a Star address with a Middleton ZIP code, and some directories file it under Middleton, so check which jurisdiction's noise ordinance actually applies.
The city runs a summer concert series on the grounds, so there is an established outdoor performance area. Rental rules and sound limits are not published anywhere I can find. Call the City of Star.
CONFIRM this one is still operating. Their own site would not load for me and the directory listings are several years old. It shows up on other DJs' venue lists, which may just mean those lists are stale.
Doing it yourself?
Plenty of couples here run their own sound, and for a ceremony and a modest reception that is a reasonable call. I rent the kit, size it to the room, and tell you where to put it. Speaker and wireless mic from $249 Friday to Monday, free pickup in Nampa, delivery across the valley.
Star is a small venue market and half of what the directories list under Star is physically in Eagle, Meridian or Kuna. Here is what is actually in Star.
If you are doing a big outdoor event at High Desert Station, the question is not which DJ. It is whether whoever you hire owns enough system to cover an arena, and most Treasure Valley wedding DJs do not. I fly a 14-box RCF line array and I would rather tell you plainly that you need it than sell you something that will not cover the room.

Common Questions
Speaker choice and aim matter more than volume in a barn. I use controlled-coverage boxes pointed at people, not walls, and I tune the system to the room before guests arrive. Loud and clear are not the same thing, and barns punish companies that confuse them.
