Every item in my catalog has two prices, overnight and weekend, and I get asked which one is the better deal more than almost anything else. So let's just do the math out loud.
What the Two Options Actually Mean
Overnight is a standard 24-hour rental, pick it up and bring it back the next day. Weekend is Friday pickup to Monday morning return, so you've got the gear for roughly three days instead of one.
The Real Numbers
Take the Mackie Thump212, one of the most-rented speakers in the catalog. Overnight is $40. Weekend is $72. That's not double the price for triple the days, it's less than double. Spread across three days, weekend rate works out to $24 a day instead of $40. Same speaker, same $40 a day energy, and you get Friday and Sunday for free.
The Electro-Voice ZLX-12P runs the same pattern, $55 overnight versus $99 for the weekend, which is $33 a day instead of $55. Every item in the catalog follows roughly this ratio, weekend rate is usually somewhere around 1.7 to 1.8 times overnight, not 3 times, even though you're getting about 3 days of gear.

If your event is a single Saturday and you're picking up that morning and returning Sunday, overnight is genuinely the right call, don't pay for days you're not using. But if any of this applies to you, weekend saves real money: you want Friday to set up and do a sound check without rushing, your event runs into Sunday, or you just don't want to be the one returning gear at 8am the morning after a wedding.
That last one is worth saying plainly. A lot of people default to overnight to save a few bucks, then realize at 11pm on their event night that returning equipment first thing the next morning is the last thing they want to deal with. Weekend buys you breathing room for not that much more money.
One More Thing Worth Knowing
Pickup is always free at the Nampa shop. Delivery is $250 each way, included automatically on any rental over $2,000, and rentals under $400 are pickup only either way. If your total is creeping toward that $2,000 mark, it's worth asking whether bumping up slightly gets delivery included for free, sometimes it does.
