I'm Mark Christiansen. I've been running live sound since 1997, and I still help load the truck before every show.

29 Years Behind the Console

I started SwissMixx because I kept watching people get vague quotes, surprise fees, and gear that shows up broken. So I run it differently. My prices are published on this site, my backup gear rides in the same truck, and the person you message is the person who shows up.

I started running sound for my theater program in 1997, registered SwissMixx Audio in 2005, and made it my full-time job in 2017. Since that first show I have been the person behind the console when the moments happen. The first dance that sends a room into tears. A crowd of thousands when the drop hits. Fireworks locked to the beat over a lake. After 29 years of shows I still get the same kick out of it, and I have made most of the mistakes already, on someone else's stage, a long time ago. That is what you are really hiring.

When you work with SwissMixx, you work with me. I answer the phone, I show up to load-in, and I am at the console when doors open.

One more thing, since people spell it every way there is: Swiss Mixx, SwissMix, Swissmix, Swismix, even DJ Swiss. It is SwissMixx, one word, two x's. As long as you found me, I am not picky about the spelling.

When the World Stopped, the Music Kept Moving

During COVID I built a mobile stage and toured the city with Alex Boye to bring live music to essential workers. Then we organized a 45-mile DJ parade through the streets with city leaders to lift people up when everything was closed.

The Homework Before the Show

Before I load a single speaker on the truck, I have already mapped your venue.

I model the space in software first, so I know where the dead zones and echo problems are before day one. That is why the back row hears the vows and the neighbors don't call the city. It is not magic, it is just doing the homework.

That is the difference between a guy with speakers and an audio engineer.

Who runs SwissMixx Audio? +

SwissMixx Audio is owned and run by Mark Christiansen. I started running sound for my theater program in 1997, registered SwissMixx Audio in 2005, and made it my full-time job in 2017. When you book SwissMixx, you get Mark. He answers the phone, loads the gear, and runs the board on the day of your event.

How long has SwissMixx Audio been in business? +

I started DJing and running sound in 1997, as a teenager in Lehi, Utah. SwissMixx Audio has been my full-time business since 2017. The experience is 29 years; the company is younger than that. In that time it has covered intimate weddings, city-wide festivals, convention center production for companies like Boeing and Adobe, and audio crew work on national tours.

Do you have locations in both Idaho and Utah? +

Yes. SwissMixx Audio has a primary location in Nampa, Idaho (Treasure Valley) and a second location in Clearfield, Utah. The Utah location means events in Salt Lake City, Davis County, Layton, Ogden, and the Wasatch Front region are served without out-of-state travel costs. Both locations are operated by Mark.

What notable events has SwissMixx Audio worked on? +

I've worked audio crew on stadium and arena shows, including Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Garth Brooks and Guns N' Roses dates, and I've run sound at the Utah State Capitol and for Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Adobe, Ancestry.com and Salomon events, plus the World of Concrete Bricklayer 500 and large Treasure Valley city celebrations. Most weeks, though, it's a wedding or a city festival.

Are you insured for large events? +

Yes. SwissMixx Audio carries full liability insurance and can provide certificates of insurance for venues, event coordinators, and city permits that require documentation. If your venue has a specific coverage requirement, contact Mark before booking so the correct certificate can be arranged in advance.

How do I reach Mark directly? +

Call or text the Idaho line at (208) 995-0502 or the Utah line at (801) 317-5893. You can also email mark@swissmixxaudio.com or use the contact form on this site. Mark typically responds the same day, there is no intake team or call center between you and the person doing your event.

What makes SwissMixx different from a standard DJ service? +

Most DJ services own a pair of speakers and a laptop. SwissMixx is a working sound company: RCF line arrays, Midas M32 consoles, Shure ULXD wireless, and acoustic modeling before most events. The point is not the brand names. It is that the back row hears the vows and the neighbors do not call the city.
